Seoul Bird

Here we go again, back on the Korean culinary hype with Seoul Bird. I would love to find a nice, reliable Korean eatery but it’s hard. Whenever there is a new trend, there seem to be hundreds of restaurants that specialize in that dish or cuisine, most of which disappear after a short while. How so many businesses can pivot that fast is beyond me, maybe they are all suffering and will do anything to get customers through the door to survive. At the end of the day, despite the reality, what matters is the food. Let’s see how Seoul Bird measures up.

Seoul Bird excellently balances a fast food vibe with a restaurant dining-in experience. The ordering is all done through a screen, although not my favorite as I always think they are incredibly grubby, it means that you can take your time to scroll through the menu and properly compare items. The food is picked up using a ticketing system, which works well here.

What do we say here on Hurt Burt Bites? Wings are the ultimate litmus test. Seoul Bird excelled with these. The chicken was superbly flavourful and not greasy at all. The chicken was also excellent, it was incredibly juicy and tender. These may well be some of the best wings I have ever had, I mean that.

let’s move on to the burger, and my oh my, what a treat this little fella was. The sauce was out of this world, heavily saturated in a gochujang paste but with slight hints of a sweet barbeque flavor. The greenery was crispy and accompanied the burger very nicely. The one slight letdown would be the bun, there is not much to say about it as it was so bland, but, that didn’t matter given the huge amount of flavor packed inside.

Not all that glistens is gold, this is especially true of the fries. They were dry and almost flavorless. I don’t quite know how they achieved making the fries more greasy than the chicken wings but they did. I only had a handful before I thought my heart would stop, so I left the rest. A real shame.

Seoul Bird – Conclusion

If you want some good Korean food and don’t want to break the bank. Seoul Buird is a fantastic option. Although it might not be the very top of quality, you certainly get what you pay for, and more. There is a huge variety here too, so if you are with a picky eater, they will likely find something here that will satisfy their buds.
